TrackingCoder 2027 Roadmap: What's Coming for Even Better Tracking

8 min read··By the TrackingCoder team
A 2027 timeline with four milestones: a Chrome extension in Q1, a Shopify app and a WordPress plugin in Q2, and mobile app tracking in the second half, plus more channels, server-side delivery and smarter alerts.

Four things headline the 2027 roadmap: a Chrome extension, a Shopify app, a WordPress plugin, and mobile app tracking. Around them sit the requests we hear most from agencies and shop owners: more ad platforms, server-side delivery, and monitoring that is smarter about what it tells you. This page explains what each item does, roughly when it lands, and what you can already use today. Dates are intentions, not promises; the product updates page is where you will see each one go live.

What TrackingCoder does today, in one paragraph

Paste a URL. TrackingCoder scans the site, detects the platform, forms, pixels and existing IDs, and lets you pick from 450+ events. One click places every tag, trigger and variable in your Google Tag Manager workspace, with the right event name for GA4, Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads. You review and publish. TC Pro then watches every event on every site you manage and alerts you when one stops. That is the base every roadmap item builds on. The one-click GTM integration was verified by Google in August 2026, which is what makes the next items possible.

1. Chrome extension (planned: Q1 2027)

The single most requested feature. Today you set up tracking inside the web app, which includes a visual picker for choosing elements. The extension moves that onto the live site:

  • Point and click on the real page. Hover the button, link or form you care about and TrackingCoder writes the trigger for it, with a selector that survives most redesigns.
  • Scan from the toolbar. Any page you are on, one click to see the platform, forms, pixels and IDs.
  • Tracking health at a glance. Open a client's site and see whether the GTM container is present, which tags fire on this page, and whether TC Pro has seen events from it recently.
  • Send to the wizard. Picked elements land in the web app ready to generate and push to GTM.

Why first: it removes the last piece of guesswork, the moment where a scan finds three "Contact" buttons and you have to say which one matters.

2. Shopify app (planned: Q2 2027)

TrackingCoder already works on any Shopify store through Google Tag Manager, and the Shopify tracking guide covers the current route. The app makes the store the starting point rather than the browser:

  • Install without touching theme code. The GTM container and the data layer are added from inside Shopify.
  • Checkout events done properly. Purchase, begin checkout and add to cart delivered through Shopify's own customer events, so checkout customisations and upsell apps do not break them.
  • Stay current automatically. Theme updates and app changes are detected and the affected triggers regenerated.
  • Monitoring built in. TC Pro sees the store's events without a separate install.

3. WordPress plugin (planned: Q2 2027)

WordPress is the platform we scan most, and the one where form plugins cause the most trouble. The WordPress tracking guide explains why Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms and WPForms each need different triggers. The plugin fixes that at the source:

  • One-click GTM install from the WordPress admin, no theme editing.
  • Plugin-aware detection. Forms, WooCommerce, page builders and booking plugins are read from WordPress itself, not guessed from the page.
  • Update protection. When a theme or plugin update changes the site, triggers are regenerated before tracking silently fails.
  • WooCommerce purchase data exposed cleanly for GA4, Google Ads and Meta.

4. Mobile app tracking (planned: second half of 2027)

The same idea, for apps. Many of the businesses we work with run a website and an app, and the app's tracking is usually set up by a different person with a different naming scheme. The plan:

  • One event catalogue mapped to GA4 for Firebase, the Meta SDK and ad platform app events on iOS and Android.
  • Consistent names so a purchase in the app and a purchase on the site are the same purchase in every report.
  • The same monitoring and alerts for app events as for web events, in the same TC Pro dashboard.

This is the largest item and the least fixed in scope. If you run an app and want to shape it, we would like to hear from you.

What we are not building

An analytics dashboard to replace GA4, hosting for server-side containers, or anything that publishes to your GTM container without you. The first two are done well by others, and the third is the rule that makes the one-click integration safe. If GA4's reports are the part you dislike, see Is there an easier alternative to Google Analytics?.
